10k

Did I really sign up for a 10k trail run an Saturday? Why yes, I did.  I have never run more than a 5k in my life so this should be interesting.  Thank goodness for the built in obstacles.

The Aches

I've been noticing that I'm a little more tired and irritable than usual (sorry boyfriend), but this will all go away. I've also been getting these weird headaches.

Other than that, I made a pretty good chocolate smoothie consisting of 1 frozen banana, 2 giant frozen strawberries, almond milk, protein powder, and coco powder.



So far so good except for the tall Starbuck's latte I accidently drank today. I realized I was drinking milk (not paleo) on the very last sip. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

The Challenge WOD

Here is the WOD that we all did on Day 1 and will do again on the last day of the Paleo challenge:

5 Rounds:
5 Handstand Push-Ups
5 Overhead Squats (75#)
then
25 Wall Balls (14#)
then
6 Rounds:
6 Pull-Ups
6 Front Squats
then
36 Burpees

I used a 10# plate for my handstand pushups. Hopefully those will be full range of motion by the end of this 8 weeks.

Day One!

Today starts the beginning of an 8 week Nutrition (Paleo) Challenge at CrossfitRVA.  Basically, I'm supposed to only eat lean meats, vegetables, fruit, and nuts.  So, no dairy, no grains, no sugars.  There are about 40 of us competing against each other to see who can improve the most. There will be one female and one male winner.  Each winner gets $150.  The winner is based on a combined percentage of two things; time difference on the WOD from the first and last day and difference in body fat from the first and last day.  Each person is provided a 30 day meal book to go by if they choose.

Day 1

Height: 5'2"
Weight: 115.5
Body Fat: 21%

Breakfast:  2 boiled eggs, 2.5 pieces of turkey bacon, and black coffee
Lunch:       Spaghetti Squash with a ground beef marina sauce (dinner from last night)
Dinner:      Chicken breast and spinach salad, cooked okra and a FULL glass of red wine and a bite of dark chocolate.
